Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Respect

ACEMS is committed to equal opportunity and diversity within the Centre and to promoting these values in the mathematical sciences more generally. Over the years, ACEMS has implemented a number of important initiatives that aim to support, encourage and promote equity, diversity, inclusion and respect within the Centre and beyond, and abolish behaviour inconsistent with these core values of ACEMS.

Key Centre initiatives in this area include a Carer’s Provision Fund to support those with caring responsibilities; the creation of three female-only postdoctoral research fellow positions; an Equity and Diversity Workshop series; a comprehensive Code of Conduct and complaints process; International Women in Maths Day events and resources; revised sponsorship requirements so that events are only supported if the funds will explicitly address equity, diversity and inclusion, and have a code of conduct and complaints process in place; many mentoring and networking opportunities; new podcasts that feature an equity and diversity angle, and have a broad range of hosts, guests and topics; and a comprehensive climate survey.
