VicRoads plans, develops and manages the arterial road network and delivers road safety initiatives and customer focused registration and licensing services. The key role of VicRoads is to help provide Victorians with safe and easy connections to the people and places that matter most to them.
ACEMS collaborates with VicRoads to address cutting edge traffic modelling technologies as well as operations research and other methodological approaches.
VicRoads Merged into Department of Transport
In mid-2019, VicRoads and Public Transport Victoria were merged into the Victorian Department of Transport, to integrate transport planning and operation.
VicRoads Research Projects
VicRoads continues to co-supervise the PhD project on ‘Simulating Bus and Tram Priority in Traffic Flow’, conducted by Samithree Rajapaksha and supervised by Chief Investigator Tim Garoni from Monash. This project explores how buses and trams can be better managed in and around traffic priority treatments. It is focused on identifying a robust framework for traffic simulator model calibration and validation, as well as exploring the simulation capabilities of existing traffic simulation tools in Victoria. We look forward to continuing our collaboration.
